Adventures of an Almost-1-Year-Old

I spent about two hours updating my blog last night only to have it freeze up on me and get erased!  I’m hoping I can recreate it in less time tonight, but I’m feeling much less enthusiastic, so I apologize if it comes across in my writing.

I was hoping to update sooner but the past two months have been so busy I’ve hardly had a second to spare.  I also had the crazy notion to start a 30 day hot yoga challenge.  The challenge is to do yoga every day for 30 days in a row.  At least I had enough sense to modify my challenge to 5 days a week (I can’t say the same for Randi J). This is the last week of the challenge, thank goodness!  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy yoga, I know it’s good for me (I feel stronger and can fit into more of my pre-pregnancy clothes! Victory!), and I will continue to do it, but I feel like I’m running on empty and I need to do some Christmas shopping (and I miss kickboxing)! At this time last year I was done with all my shopping!  I also feel guilty for going so often when I could spend more time at home with my family.  I have to thank my hubby for always encouraging me, even if it means he has to give up some of his free time.  I love you, Brent!

Enough about me… Nolan is walking! Not all the time and she’s still faster when she crawls, but she’s improving all the time.  She’s learning that now she can carry things with her and I think it’s the cutest! She LOVES bath time.  Daddy gives her one every day or else she’ll have stinky helmet head and she squeals with delight the entire time.  She also jabbers a lot. Most of it doesn’t make sense, but she can say Mama, Dada, ball, and Nana. Her favorite song is Baa Baa Black Sheep and she can sing along to the “Baa Baa” part. She is almost always happy and it’s infectious.

We went to the cranial doc yesterday and found out her head shape has improved quite a bit, but there’s still room for more.  Her original asymmetry measurement was 12 mm (5 mm or less is normal) and now it is 8 mm!  This is great news and you can see the progress in the pics below.  We also found out that if we want to do a 2nd band we have to do it before she turns one if we want insurance to cover it.  So, we’re probably going to go ahead with a 2nd one as long as it’s covered.  We’ll find out soon and if so, she should have a new one in a few weeks.

The thing that bothered me the most from the beginning is the pic of her face.  The flat spot on the back of her head caused her head to grow more in other areas to compensate for the lack of space, making a parallelogram-like shape. So, it also affected the shape of her face.  I’m so happy and relieved to see that it has improved so much!
